ERGONOMIC GARDENING

with Dr. Garrett Kitchel, PT, DPT, OCS, APHPT,   Partner in Kitsap Physical Therapy

It’s that time of year again when gardeners are itching to get back in the garden, however, if you aren’t doing it correctly using safe body mechanics, it can put a lot of strain on your back, knees, wrists, and hands.

Warming up, maintaining a good posture and using the correct tools is an easy way to decrease muscle pain and fatigue. Dr. Rose Christen of Kitsap Physical Therapy and an associate will show you the proper gardening ergonomics to help you have a pain free garden season this year.

A “Plantswoman,” by definition, is someone with a passion for plants and their cultivation. Susan Calhoun, president and principal designer of Plantswoman Design, is just that: someone passionate about plants and their cultivation. An avid gardener in her own right, Susan is continually on the hunt for noteworthy and unusual plants that make an otherwise ordinary landscape stand out from the rest. You can see that passion in her designs and her writing.
